Be Happy is an installation for the new Coin Excelsior department store in Venice created by Fusina from an idea by the digital storyteller Felice Limosani

What does happiness look like? To give abstract concepts a tangible shape is the main goal of design and the part of our job we like the most. That’s exactly what we did while working on the site-specific installation Be Happy during the opening of Coin Excelsior department store in Venice.
A storey of the new premium contemporary department store, located right in the hearth of the city, in Cannaregio, is reserved to perfumery, while the others display products of some famous fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Gianni Versace.

The installation
The installation Be Happy by Felice Limosani was placed in the courtyard of the palace, which was covered during the last restoration. An 8 meter-long and 2 meter-tall mirror panel which only weights one hundred kilograms is hanging from the ceiling, turning round thanks to an electric engine controlled by an inverter.

The installation of the panel, made of a high-quality mirror film, would have been difficult anyway, but its transportation and placement inside the courtyard of a palace in the heart of Venice required to our team great attention and precision.

The full rotation of the panel allows it to reflect the 32 Lev Tolstoj’s quotes “If you want to be happy, be”. We can’t see happiness, nor we can touch it, but it is reflected on our lives through our actions, Felice Limosani says. It’s up to us to decide which side we want to show to the mirror, that never stops turning.

Mullions, rectangles, round windows, clothes, people…all the elements that form part of the exclusive shopping experience in Coin Excelsior are highlighted and virtually multiplied by Be Happy, convening a universal, positive message.
